While the girls were at the salon, I went over to Heather’s moms house and photographed her shoes and dress. Pretty cool to have these images in the house where you grew up.

So they really didn’t want to see each other before the wedding! But knowing that it really would be best for photos and their guest, we arranged for a “special moment.” Heather was going to think of an idea, and it HIT me right then! Tyler is a golf fanatic, and we were photographing the guys at the golf course. SHE COULD WALK UP BEHIND HIM WHILE HE PRETENDED TO BE TEEING OFF! Perfect!! We thought so. It was a pretty sweet moment.

Love how Heather is playing with her ring!

Inside of Tylers ring was engraved “you’re amazing.” (Heather tells him that all of the time). It really is the little things that matter.

Heather is a school teacher, and her students made all of the cranes that they used in the reception decorations

Heather made all of the beading on the cake!! She seen it on Pinterest. She ROCKED it

How did you and Tyler meet? When? Tyler and I met in college from a mutual friend, Kelly. A bunch of friends met up and went bowling, but the real romance and dating didn’t begin until the summer of 2009. We started hanging out as friends in the summer of 2009. Things became more of a relationship in the early fall of 2009 with one of our first offcial dates being at an Indianapolis Indians baseball game.
How did he pop the question?
It was September 17th, 2011. I had to leave early to volunteer for Reins to Recovery. It was a chilly, fall, Saturday morning so I was the only one up. I rushed to get ready so I wouldn’t be late. I knew I was going to the barn and the horses didn’t care what I looked like. With my hair sloppily thrown up and no makeup on I walked out of the bathroom. As I was walking out of the bathroom Tyler met me. Surprised, I looked up and he said, “Well?”
“Well, what?” I replied. “I’m almost running late.”He turned me back around and pointed to the bathroom counter….still nothing. Finally, he pointed out that he put my engagement ring where my promise ring always lays thinking I would pick it up like I always do (little did he know I never wear jewerly to the barn). He asked me to marry him and the rest has been a fairy tale.
I didn’t expect this because that night we were going out to Indy to Moe’s for dinner to celebrate our two year “anniversary.” I thought something was up, but never thought this was!
What do you do to have fun together?
Tyler and I are nerds deep down. Our ideal date would be dinner and going to a bookstore. There are times when we could spend hours there (at the bookstore not the dinner part). Tyler loves golfing and I love watching him and riding in the cart. We like to travel. Somehow we manage to get a good laugh in in whatever we do Wal-Mart or Disney.
What do you think the hardest thing was in planning your wedding?
I would have to say it was more my issue than our issue because I wanted something PERFECT. I wanted something people would remember, something different. We wanted an outside venue tor at least something different (the zoo!), but living in Indiana you never know the weather so I knew deep down it couldn’t happen. So we put that part of the budget in different places. It seemed there was always a hoop to jump through because I knew what I wanted and I wasn’t willing to settle. Ty didn’t get in on the planning too much but was very supportive when I did ask for his help. All and all I would say it was a perfect day lol.
Tyler, Your most memorable moment or favorite thing about your wedding?
Tyler’s typing now….My favorite moment was seeing Heather at the golf course for the first time. She looked beautiful. Her eyes were glowing and her smile was bigger than ever. But, I have to admit seeing Graham for the first time in his tux then seeing him walk down the aisle was pretty special too.
Heather, Your most memorable moment or favorite thing about your wedding?
One thing?!?! My most memorable moment was walking down the aisle. Yes, we had seen each other before the wedding (which I don’t know if I would do that if I could redo it all), but seeing his face, being arm and arm with my daddy, and trying to hold back my tears was all very overwhelming and exciting. The day went fast but I took it all in and could replay it all minute by minute. We had so many people telling us it would go by so fast that I took mental notes of just about everything. Also, my carriage ride around town after the wedding was like being Cinderella.
But, wait, I really liked my dog, our son, being able to share in our special day. Or was it….well you get the point. It’s too hard for ME to pinpoint one thing.
AND (since everyone is going to ask)where did you get the shoes? ha!
My shoes….*sigh* I love my shoes. I got my shoes from Figgie Shoes in Canada. They were custom made for our wedding. It’s an amazing website and Deborah is so great! I bought the actually shoes on clearance (and we’re talking dirt cheap) at David’s Bridal. I shipped them to her and she worked MAGIC on them! PERFECT! Although they’re dirty, but still wearable.
HAAHAHAA! I sent all of the above questions to Heather & Tyler and when I received them back and was reading through them I noticed this next question… (which THEY added to the email) You two are so funny.
***What did you think of my photography work?
I can’t thank you enough for the day you spent with us. You took the most amazing pictures and were so fun to work with. Thank you for your patience with everyone…and my phone calls, emails, meetings…etc. It was great! I can’t wait to work with you again in the future. Thank you again!
I was so glad to be a part of your fun and beautiful day! The weather was fantastic and your family and friends were great to work with. I was also thankful to have Christina Newby of Milestones Photography work with me for the day! Christina and I grew up in the same area, however she is younger than I, so we never knew each other before connecting with photography. We are blessed to have met and have became such great friends. She was a joy to have beside me for the day. Thank you girl!!
With Heather & Tyler’s wedding already a month and a half ago, I still remember some pretty fun things. Heather could not decide on flowers for her reception, so she had a cake for every table (should I add that there were over 350 guest)!! She wanted Graham (her beloved dog) to be a part of their day, and I love how she talks about him like he is human. Heather was such an excited bride! She would text me and tell me she found her dress, or she picked up her shoes!
SO fun! She even text me that day when she was in the limo in front of me. I LOVE when brides don’t stress, but just relax and enjoy the moments.
One of the many things I love about Heather (besides how stinkin’ cute her nose wrinkles up when she laughs) is that her family is so important to her. This was her Facebook status the night before her wedding:
“Although tomorrow is a busy day, Dad and I are going to our last unmarried daughter and father breakfast then he’s graciously taking me to a yard sale!! Yes, all of this on the day I get married.
Hair isn’t until 9am, breakfast at 7am…I think so!“
Thank you again Mr. & Mrs. Lewis! xo
